1. What happens if I didn't renew by 30 June 2009?
Current registration is a legislative requirement to practise in Queensland. If you failed to renew your registration by 30 June, it has now expired. It is a breach of the Occupational Therapists Registration Act 2001 for you to continue to practise in Queensland.
To resume practice you will need to restore to the register by 30 September. You will receive an expiry notice advising that your name has been removed from the register. You cannot practise your profession until you have either restored online, or if you post your restoration form, until it has been processed by the Board. There is an additional cost to restore to the register. You will be advised of these fees in your expiry notice.
If you do not restore to the register by 30 September, you will need to make a fresh application to register with the Board. You will have to meet the registration requirements relevant at the time of your fresh application. It is recommended that you regularly check on this website to see if there are any changes to the registration process.

3. How quickly will my registration be restored?

If I restore online? Once you have received confirmation that your payment has been processed, the Board's register will be updated IMMEDIATELY. |
If I post my restoration form? All complete restoration forms will be processed within 5 working days of their receipt in this office. |
4. How can I check if my restoration has been processed?
Once your registration is processed (see above for How quickly will my registration be updated?), irrespective of whether you use the online service or post your restoration form to the Board, the Board's register will automatically be updated to show that you are now registered to practise for the 2009-2010 year. You can check the public access register to see if your registration has been restored online at www.healthregboards.qld.gov.au or the "Check Registration" link on the Board's website. You will need to:
- Select the relevant Board's register
- Enter your surname (first name is optional) and click the search button
- From the search results, select your name to view your registrant details, including the "Registered to" date.
5. How quickly will I receive my certificate?
Once your registration is processed, irrespective of whether you use the online service or post your restoration form to the Board, you should receive your certificate within 14 days after this office has receipted your restoration payment (see above). If you do not, please contact this office on 3225 2506.
6. What is a complete restoration form?

7. What if I do not complete the restoration form correctly?

If I restore online? Not relevant. You will not need to complete and submit the restoration form. The online service will step you through the restoration requirements and advise you immediately of errors in entry or if your payment is unable to be processed. |
If I post my restoration form? If you don't complete the restoration form correctly, your payment will NOT be processed and the incomplete form will be returned to you for completion. If the restoration form is not returned to the Board fully completed along with the correct restoration fee by 30 September, you will not be registered to practise in Queensland and you will need to make a fresh application to register with the Board. |
8. Can someone else make the declaration on restoration on my behalf?

If I restore online? No - only the registrant can make the declaration. |
If I post my restoration form? No - legal advice on the matter of power of attorney is that no other person than the actual named registrant on the form can sign the declaration. |
9. If I intend only practising for part of the year in Queensland, do I have to pay the full year's fee?
Yes, you must pay the full 12 months fee. If you surrender your registration within 3 months of restoring your registration you will be entitled to a partial refund of your registration fees. Conditions apply and you should contact the Board's office for more details at that time.
10. Can I pay the restoration fee in installments?
No, you must pay the full fee by 30 September if you wish to remain registered in Queensland.
11. What if I send in the incorrect fee?

If I restore online? The relevant fee will automatically be entered when you commence processing your restoration - you will not be able to pay an incorrect fee. |
If I post my restoration form? If you pay less than the restoration fee, your restoration payment will NOT be processed. It will be returned requesting you pay the correct fee to be received by the Board by 30 September. If you pay more than the restoration fee, your payment will be processed and you will be refunded the balance over. (NB: In accordance with Office policy, amounts less than $10 will not be refunded.) |
12. What if my credit card declines or my cheque is dishonoured?

If I restore online? You will know IMMEDIATELY if your restoration has not been processed because your credit card has declined, and you will be given another opportunity to process your payment. NB: The online service only accepts MasterCard and Visa credit cards payments. |
If I post my restoration form? If you return your restoration form to the Board for processing, and your payment is not successful, the Office will attempt to contact you. If this is not possible, your original restoration form will be returned to you for completion. If the restoration form is not returned by 30 September, you will not be registered to practise in Queensland and you will need to make a fresh application to register with the Board. |
13. Can I pay in person?

You may pay your restoration fee at the Board's offices located on the 8th Floor, Forestry House, 160 Mary Street, Brisbane between the hours of 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, Monday to Friday. Do not forget to bring in your completed form.
14. Can somebody else pay on my behalf?

15. Can I send in the restoration notice and payment separately?

If I post my restoration form? No. Please note payment and a completed restoration form MUST be received together, otherwise the restoration cannot be processed. |
16. Can I send in my restoration notice and payment by fax?

The fax number is 07 3225 2514 (credit card payment only). If you do send in your restoration notice by fax, please do NOT send in the original notice form afterwards. You may retain it for your own records. There is no need to ring the office to check that we have received the fax. You can check the Board's website to see if your restoration has been processed. 17. Can I send in my restoration notice and payment by email?
No. In accordance with Information Security (IS18) Standard, the Board cannot receive credit card details via email.
18. What if I don't intend to practise my profession in Queensland over the next 12 months?
It is up to you whether or not you wish to maintain your current registration status in Queensland. If you decide not to do so, you do not need to take any action. If the Board does not receive your restoration form or you do not restore online by 30 September, you will need to make a fresh application to register with the Board.

19. If I download a form from the website, is there anything special I need to do?
Yes - but it is easier to restore online. To restore now click here.
You will need to complete your name and registration number in the large box provided on the top left hand corner of the restoration form. This is necessary to identify you when processing your restoration form. If you cannot be identified, your restoration form cannot be processed and you risk your registration not being restored. Complete the body of the restoration form as required.
20. Have the fees increased this year?
We are very pleased that this year we have been able to maintain costs to the CPI increase.
21. Do I need to prove recency of practice and continuing professional development?
Recency of practice and continuing professional development do not apply for this restoration period.
